This guide covers the most common issues you may run into when syncing K1x with CCH Axcess and how to resolve them. To ensure a smooth process, double-check that all required details in both systems match. Keep in mind that even one error will cause the entire batch to fail, so accuracy is key.
Activity Number Mismatch
Error Message: Could not find an investment for activities [xxxx]
This message response is received from CCH, which means the activity number was not found in CCH.
TIP
Export your passive activities from CCH and export the K-1 Summary from the Manage Investments page in K1 Aggregator, then cross-reference the activity numbers to validate.
The passthrough activity listing export worksheet can be found in CCH Axcess under the import/export section at the end of the federal worksheets.
The K-1 Summary can be found on the "Manage Investments" page of K1A. Click to select all investments, then click the dropdown and select "Export selected investments".
Syncing Issues - Error 18
Issue 1 - Data Mismatch
The majority of CCH Axcess issues are due to data match or missing data. Before sending a ticket to the product team, please make sure the following datapoints exist in K1x and match the data in CCH Axcess:
- Instance Name
- Return ID
- Entity Type
- Tax Form Type
- Activity Number
- EIN/SSN/TIN (ie. masked data)
Please include screenshots from your CCH Locator when reaching out to K1x support. Screenshots should include the locator return ID and the activity record General Information with the activity number visible.
Masked Data
Replace all masked characters (***-**-0019) in the Partnership EIN and the Partner's SSN or TIN. The data should match the CCH Axcess record. CCH Axcess will not allow masked data to be imported.
Issue 2 - K-1 Does Not Exist in CCH Axcess
The K-1 activity MUST EXIST in CCH Axcess before you can send data using the integration.
If you have new K-1s that do not exist in the CCH return, the batch send will fail, and the response will be error (18). This happens because the integration is not able to find a matching activity record, since it does not exist in CCH yet.
If you continue to have issues, enter an amount (ie. $1) in at least one of the passthrough fields. Sometimes CCH cannot "find" a new, empty activity record.
Issue 3
CCH requires the Line 2 - "Class option" field to be populated. Please make sure there is an active selection (not grayed out) in the dropdown field.
Instances with Multiple Activities
The integration supports multiple activity syncing for most return types, as long as the structure and activity numbers match what is in CCH.
The following return types do not support multiple activities:
- 1120S
- 1120
- 1065
